Week 1, Discussion 5.1

Q Post a paragraph of at least six sentences explaining how this week's instruction about sentence patterns clarifies for you some features of writing that might have proven confusing to you beforehand. Be specific, please. In a separate paragraph, write as many sentences as needed to state difficulties you may have understanding one or more of the sentence patterns. Be specific. Do not reference outside sources; use your own words. Once your paragraph has been posted, read classmates' posts and respond to comment about types of differences you have noted. Please note that you will not see classmates' postings until you have posted your own. Initial discussion posts are due by the fourth day of the academic week at 11:30 PM ET and responses to at least two classmates are expected by the last day of the academic week by 11:30 PM ET.

I found this week’s study material to be extremely helpful and it had helped me to understand the topic better by explaining clearly the transitive and intransitive verbs and providing a formula for the same (Transitive: S+V+DO; Intransitive: S+V). While reading about the patterns of sentences the knowledge of the linking verbs and sense verbs had also helped me because it clarified how adjective and adverb compliment scan be used after sense verbs and the to- be verbs will be followed by noun and pronoun complements.
